The project was a part of my final work in the art academy exhibited in Reykjavík Art Museum. Although played together the sound installation splits into two different parts. The first one is a certain frequency and the second one is a chant.

The original idea was to charge water, using a certain frequency, and invite people to drink it. This frequency was 8 hertz due to the constructive and harmonic benefits it has on the structure in water, bearing in mind that our biological system is 72% water. The reason for this effect is because the frequency corresponds with the lowest frequency of the oscillations of the earth’s magnetic field, according to the theories of the physicist Winfried Otto Schumann. The sound is actually not hearable, but visible because of the vibration of the speaker cone.

The chant was recorded in a church in Seyðisfjörður, Iceland using approximately 14 people. They chanted the sound “A” witch is, according to yogic philosophies, one of the three basic sound that the body is capable of producing without the tongue. The other two sounds are “U” and “M” and the tongue is used to make all the variations and parameters of these sounds. Similar in colour theory there are only three colours used to create all other colours. According to in the yogic wisdom, people that want to gain physical and psychological well-being are advised to chant the sound “A”.
